Culinary festival. Honors the folkloric food of
the Christmas season: the Puerto Rican pastel.
A three-day expo of a wide variety of pasteles,
arts and culture. The pastel (similar but larger
than a Tamale)originated in the Taino culture,
it is is made of plantain, green bananas and
taro root grated and filled with fried pork, spices
and a variety of other beans or grains and wrapped i
n a banana leaf for cooking.
