2001 Highlights:
In his first full season in the Majors, he batted .233 (31-for-133) with 11 doubles and nine RBI...batted .293 (27-for-92) with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs and eight RBI in his 23 starts...showed his versatility by playing second base, third base, left field and right field during the 2001 campaign...hit his first Major League home run on June 13 vs. Texas...had a career-high three hits (3-for-4) on April 19 at San Francisco and May 28 vs. Houston (3-for-5)...was 4-for-33 (.121) as a pinch-hitter...became the ninth player in Dodger Stadium history to reach the Loge Level with a home run, when he hit a 412-ft. blast off Arizona's Randy Johnson on June 19 ...flied out as a pinch-hitter on June 28 at San Diego, snapping a career-high six-game hitting streak from June 19-26 (6-for-26, .231)...with the injuries to Adrian Beltre and Dave Hansen, was able to start seven games at third base in April and made the most of the opportunities...batted .417 (10-for-24) with four doubles and five runs scored...made the 25-man roster out of spring training after batting .244 (11-for-45) with three doubles, three homers and six RBI during Grapefruit League action...also played second base, third base and all three outfield positions during the spring...

Hiram Colon Bocachica...married to Jocelyn...resides in Toa Alto, Puerto Rico...attended Rexville H.S. in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where he participated in volleyball, basketball and track and field...received a scholarship offer to play baseball at Louisiana State University prior to signing with the Expos...was the 21st player chosen overall in the June 1994 First-Year Player Draft, falling a few draft selections short of becoming the first Puerto Rican to be chosen in the first round...catcher Ramon Castro was taken by Houston with the 17th selection...signed by Juan Loyola of Montreal.
